Many don’t realize that Colorado is one of only eight U.S. states that permit abortion right up until birth. In fact, the only other places on Earth where a baby’s life can be medically terminated after 22 weeks are China, North Korea, Vietnam and Canada!
As Life Network board member and veteran ObGyn Dr. Kevin Weary shared at our annual gala last year, “There is no medical rationale for needing to end the life of a baby post the age of viability before delivery in order to protect the pregnant female patient. Period.”
From May 15th to May 27th, you have the opportunity to sign the “Due Date Too Late” petition to change the fact that abortion is legal right up until birth in our state.
Nearly 10,000 signatures are still needed to get it on the ballot this fall, but there’s just a two-week window to make that happen! As Christians, we value life because Scripture is clear: we are made in the image of God … He knew us before we were born … and human life is sacred. This is a chance to express that by saying we don’t want Colorado to continue allowing abortions after the age of viability at 22 weeks.
You can sign the petition at Life Network at 3700 Galley Road weekdays starting this Friday (5/15) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please use the northeast door (at the back of the parking lot), head up the stairs to our administrative office and ring the bell. Or, visit our Life Network Family Thrift Store on Saturday, May 23, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., and sign the petition as you come on in to shop!
Not sure if you’ve signed the petition yet, or just want to make sure your signature was accepted? Take a peek at this web page and look up your name to ensure your signature was recorded.
There are additional signing locations in Colorado Springs, and you can find the complete list here: https://duedatetoolate.com/events There is a day-by-day list at the top, followed by a list of locations that have ongoing signing dates (in addition to Life Network, Village Seven Presbyterian Church, and Born Again Used Books have multiple signing dates and times, too). This is your chance for your voice to be heard and to protect life in the back of a pregnancy in our state.
