When Shaylee (not her real name) came to confirm her pregnancy, her mind was spinning with questions and people’s opinions. Her relationship with her mom was on thin ice. And the baby’s father was pressuring Shaylee to end the pregnancy. The terrified 17-year-old’s only support was her aunt —who graciously took Shaylee in.
But the moment Shaylee arrived, she found the peace and resources she’d been missing. She realized that she wasn’t alone. Shaylee felt the compassion, support and sincere embrace of people who care. She chose life for her baby girl. “I had nothing for my baby,” Shaylee says. “But I received everything I needed just by showing up.” Today, her daughter is a thriving second-grader — a testimony to God’s grace and her courage. through every parenting milestone, every fear and every joyful moment, Shaylee never had to walk alone — even during her second pregnancy. “I don’t feel as lonely as I did before. I have support now.”— Shaylee “It was scary,” she says. “Just knowing I had somewhere to go, that I could call anytime for help or prayer — that gave me peace.”
Shaylee is a different woman today than when she first walked through the doors of the center. A mom to her two girls — and now a 5-month-old son — she’s surrounded by the love of her family . . . including her son’s father, who is fully present in their lives. “I don’t feel as lonely as I did before,” says Shaylee. “I have support now. My mom and I have healed a lot. Life is good.” Thank you for joining so many other friends in our community to help women like Shaylee choose life, find healing for their families and unlock a hopeful future.
